Michele Malooly, M.A., L.P.C.

People often ask me why I became a psychotherapist.  Originally, I studied psychology because I was fascinated with the subject matter.  However, why I became a psychotherapist is much more personal.  I wanted to help make a difference in the lives of people.  This purpose coupled with my interest in psychology lead me where I am today.  Every day I feel lucky to have found meaning in my work.  I truly enjoy sitting with clients, putting pieces of an emotional puzzle together.  To be with another along the journey of self-discovery makes me feel grateful and honored to do what I do.

I love working with women because I am especially passionate about women's issues.  I work with women figuring themselves and their lives out.  It may be because of relationship problems or issues with food, money, or work that someone walks through my door.  However, often what is found because of the problems, in my opinion, is the most exciting part of therapy.

My experience in mental health dates back to 1999 when I worked with children and adolescents in a private psychiatric hospital. I am a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward's University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas.

When I am not seeing clients, you may find me on Lady Bird Lake with my dogs, or out and about in Austin. I believe in being authentic, living life fully, and striving for balance myself.  I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to see if we would be a good fit in working together.
